Our Department has primary
fire protection responsibility for the City of Evansdale,
Iowa. We provide Rescue and EMS assistance to a rural
portion of Black Hawk County, Iowa and to the cities
of Raymond and Gilbertville. A portion of the Cedar
River is in our protection area and accounts for a few
water rescue/recoveries each year. We also have a portion
of the "Cedar Valley Nature Trail", which
is an abandoned railroad turned into a bicycle path/nature
walk that runs for nearly 100 miles. With limited access
points available on the trail, through a gift from the
American Tobacco Company, a John Deere six wheel "Gator"
was purchased and a "MedBed" installed. This
vehicle allows us to access nearly any portion of the
trail and provide safe, efficient transport to those
in need. |
