| This early morning fire in December of 2000
was started by a child playing with a cigarette lighter. Firefighters
arrived to find the house filled with smoke and the floor
of one bedroom sagging by 12 inches. In spite of the efforts
of the first arriving company, three people died of smoke
inhalation in this fire. It was determined the child started
the fire in the basement as the mother and uncle slept upstairs.
No working smoke detectors were found in this residence." |
